How to Set Up the Habit Tracker
Setup takes about five minutes. No formulas to write and nothing to configure by hand - the Setup sheet is the only place you type anything, and every other sheet updates itself from there.
Step 1: Make your own copy
Open the file in Google Sheets or Excel and make a copy for yourself first (File > Make a copy in Sheets, or Save As in Excel). Working from a copy means you can always go back to a clean version if you want to start over later.
Step 2: Add your habits on the Setup sheet
The Setup sheet lists all six areas of life side by side. Type the habits you actually want to track under each area - the sheet doesn't care if you fill every slot or leave some blank. This is the only typing involved: every tracking sheet and the Dashboard pull from what you enter here.
- Health and Body
- Mind and Growth
- Work and Finance
- Relationships
- Home and Lifestyle
- Hobbies and Creativity
Step 3: Check off each day
Once your habits are in place, tracking is just marking a box for each habit, each day. That's the entire daily routine - no separate log to keep, no numbers to calculate.
Step 4: Read the Dashboard
The Dashboard updates itself from your daily marks: completion percentage, best streak, and a heatmap of your consistency over time are all formulas, not something you fill in. If a habit is slipping, the Dashboard is where it shows up first.
Step 5: Goals and Quarterly Review (Premium)
On Premium, the Goals sheet uses an Eisenhower matrix to sort what actually matters from what just feels urgent, and the Quarterly Review gives you a dedicated space each quarter to write down what changed and what to adjust. Both work off the same habit data - nothing extra to connect.
That's it
There's no ongoing maintenance beyond checking boxes. If you add a new habit later, it goes back on the Setup sheet the same way - the Dashboard picks it up automatically.
